Metal leaf           

Metal leaf shavings for use in appliqué, quilt embellishment and general craft projects. This is the trimmings from the flat sheets of craft metal leaf sheets sold in hobby and craft stores.  The metal leaf is available in four colours, Gold, Silver, mixed warm golds and mixed copper, silver and gold.  See the photos below.

Sent in a plastic screw top jar, which holds approx 2/3 of a cup, this leaf has a variety of uses. It will stick to most craft glues, paints for general use and in quilt projects it will adhere to appliqué web. We use 'No Sew' Appliqué sheets with the metal leaf as there is no need to mark you work with any stitching unless it is of a decorative nature.

Use in a still room, (turn off ceiling fans!) as the leaf is very light weight and may blow around with any breeze. Note also, the contents may settle during shipping and storage so shake the container before use.

HOW TO USE THE METAL LEAF FOR APPLIQUÉ.

1. Trace your design onto the paper side of a sheet of 'No Sew' Appliqué. Trace the shapes close together to prevent waste.
2. Turn the sheet over and sprinkle with the metal leaf. Spread it over the surface of the sheet. Cover with a sheet a baking paper and press, following the 'No Sew' pressing instructions.
3. Remove the baking paper and brush off all the loose metal leaf. A clean tooth brush is good for this. All of the loose leave can be returned to the pot ready for the next project.
4. Cut out your appliqué shapes along the traced lines and peel away the protective paper.
5. Position the appliqué into your background fabric and press into place following the 'No Sew' pressing instructions.
6. Finished ! There is no need for sewing unless you would like to embellish further with decorative stitching.
